Hair Care by esmi

Haircare by esmi takes a scalp-first approach to haircare, because we know that a healthy scalp leads to healthy hair. The scalp, like our skin, is a microbiome that has to be supported to avoid common hair concerns like breakage, dryness or oiliness.

Our specifically formulated biome blends combine a series of probiotic lysates (a concentrated and more stable way of reaping the benefits of probiotics) that increase the good bacteria on the scalp microbiome and improve its overall health and appearance.

The formulations support the pH levels of your scalp and won’t strip it of any natural oils. You will also notice our range won’t lather as much as your previous shampoo and conditioner, thanks to our sulphate-free formula.

Haircare by esmi is rich in ingredients for thicker hair, as they balance the microbiome, strengthen the follicles and prevent hair loss. The range prevents breakage from the root, hydrates and moisturises the strands, and gives your hair a gorgeous, healthy shine.

Why is the scalp microbiome so important?

When the scalp microbiome is unbalanced, you can experience hair loss or breakage, dandruff, irritation, dullness, frizz or even eczema. A damaged scalp microbiome can occur due to weather changes, hormone imbalances, diet, heat styling or by using hair products without skin-boosting ingredients. The esmi biome blends in combination with other natural, clean ingredients gives deep, long lasting results, not just to the superficial look of your hair, but to the health of it as a whole.

What is a Biome Blend?

The hair care formulations feature esmi’s unique Biome Blends to target your hair concerns.

Our unique Biome Blends were specially formulated for the esmi haircare range and contain a collection of beneficial probiotic lysates, also known as good bacteria. A lysate is a concentrated dose of probiotics, and a more stable way to include all the benefits that come from probiotics. Each blend features strains of probiotic lysates, scientifically proven to improve not just the look of your hair, but the overall health of your scalp and follicles.

Your skin doesn’t stop at the hairline. Just like our skin, our scalp is a microbiome with good and bad bacteria that help our immune system, digestion and importantly, our skin health. A balanced microbiome promotes collagen and ceramide production, repairs UV damage and can prevent skin conditions like acne, eczema and dandruff. Factors like heat styling, stripping ingredients, hormones or diet can lead to a damaged microbiome and hair concerns.

With the right probiotic blends, we can increase the amount of good bacteria and balance the microbiome. That means a healthier scalp and stronger, more luscious hair. Think of esmi’s Biome Blends as probiotic skin care for the hair.

Our skin is a microbiome, covered in good and bad bacteria. The aim is for more of the good bacteria (probiotics) to balance the system and prevent issues. Our scalp is an extension of our skin, and so is a microbiome.

The microbiome can become unbalanced thanks to changes in the weather, hormones or diet, as well as using damaging ingredients on your hair or heat styling. When this occurs, you will notice issues like dandruff, irritation, breakage, hair loss, frizz and in some cases, eczema on the scalp.

No, the Biome Blends in Haircare by esmi are a lysate of a probiotic, sometimes known as a postbiotic. They were once probiotics but are now a collection of fragmented probiotics formulated into a solution to target specific hair concerns, but are still highly effective.

Esmi has a skin-first approach to all of our products, and the microbiome of the skin does not end at the hairline - the scalp is included. If the scalp microbiome is disrupted, issues such as hair breakage or dandruff can occur. esmi has developed concern-specific Biome Blends of probiotics to balance the scalp microbiome and treat the issue from the root.

Biome Blends are a collection of good bacteria that overpower bad bacteria or pathogens that cause common concerns on the hair and scalp, treating the issue on a microbiome level.

The skin does not stop at the hairline, but includes the scalp as well. Ensuring the scalp is healthy with skincare ingredients means there is less likelihood of issues such as a dry scalp, oiliness or weak roots. Plus, skin, hair and nails are made from the same base material, keratinocytes.

You can absolutely use Haircare by esmi on your children’s hair as the formulations are clean and gentle, while giving long-lasting results.

Haircare by esmi uses scalp-health focused formulations. Our unique Biome Blends specially target hair concerns by supporting the scalp microbiome naturally without any harsh ingredients.

You definitely can! Our formulations are naturally gentle with no ingredients that will strip colour. In fact, the nourishing ingredients strengthen coloured and bleached hair.

Our formulations are sulphate-free, which means they won’t lather like the haircare products you might be used to. Don’t worry though, this doesn’t mean they aren’t working, it is just thanks to our clean ingredients.

This depends on your lifestyle and hair type, however, as a general rule we recommend washing your hair 2-3 times a week. Unless your hair particularly needs it, we don’t suggest washing your hair every day.

When you wash your hair, we recommend shampooing twice, the first time being to rid the scalp of product, sweat and dead skin, the second time being to actually cleanse the scalp and hair.

You sure can! If you have a couple of hair concerns you can mix shampoo and conditioner formulations. If you are mixing, we recommend the conditioner being the more hydrating and nourishing formula for best results.
